Matt Hamielec is an associate whose practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions and general corporate matters.
Prior to joining Gutnicki, Matt served as associate counsel for Allstate Insurance Company. In this capacity, he helped Allstate’s private investments division contribute several hundred million dollars into low income housing funds. He also assisted with Allstate’s acquisition of InfoArmor, Inc.—a company specializing in employee identity protection coverage. Other matters worked include private equity fund transactions, investment entity formation, CLO participation, and asset transfers. Aside from his investment-related work, Matt supported a multi-disciplinary group tasked with ensuring Allstate’s compliance with recently enacted insurance information security laws and responding to privacy incidents faced by the enterprise.
In 2013, Matt earned his B.S. in Accounting and B.A. in History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He went on to earn a Master’s in Accounting Science from Illinois in 2014. He graduated from the Chicago-Kent College of Law, cum laude, in 2017. During his time in law school, Matt served as the editor-in-chief of the Chicago-Kent Law Review and as a teaching assistant for legal writing and research.
