Max Schlan is counsel in the firm’s Bankruptcy and Litigation groups and focuses his practice on complex chapter 11 cases, commercial litigation, and adversary proceedings.  Max has represented debtors, official committees of creditors and equity holders, individual creditors, secured lenders, and potential purchasers in chapter 11 cases and out of court workouts.

Prior to joining Gutnicki, Max was an associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, Colley LLP, and Brown Rudnick LLP where he represented debtors and creditors in some of the largest chapter 11 cases with liabilities exceeding $50 billion.  Max has also been involved in some the largest mass tort bankruptcies in the country, including Purdue Pharma (representing the Ad Hoc Committee of Consenting Government and Other Contingent Litigation Claimants), Boy Scouts of America (representing the Coalition of Abused Scouts for Justice), and Pacific Gas & Electric (representing the PG&E Fire Victims Trust).

Max also served as law clerk to Hon. Kevin Carey, Hon. Christopher Sontchi, and Hon. Mary Walrath in the Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
